When it comes to live-service battle royale games, Apex Legends is one of the best. The sheer amount of content that's continuously added to Apex Legends every few weeks or so is only really rivaled by the likes of Fortnite. New maps, weapons, modes, and playable characters are given to players on regular basis, setting a pretty high bar for other live-service free-to-play games. Just a few days ago, an Apex Legends leak of unprecedented scale hit the front pages of Reddit. A handful of new maps, a good few weapons, some new modes, a plethora of cosmetics, and a whopping total of nine new Legends were leaked. Although leaks should always be taken with a pinch of salt, the vast majority of these claims came with screenshots, and even some gameplay videos of the leaked elements working on a test build of the game. So, thanks to a now-deleted Reddit account, Apex Legends players might have a good idea of what's to come in the next two years or so. One of the most exciting elements of the leak, a total of nine new playable Legends were revealed. Although only one of these characters has a fully-rendered model, and the rest are clearly far from completion, the leaker has specified what each of the Legends' abilities will be, and there's some pretty exciting new additions. The Legend that's got everyone talking, Newcastle, has been speculated to be the next Legend introduced to the game. With possible lore ties to Bangalore, Newcastle is said to be Apex Legends' next defensive hero, being able to drag downed teammates into cover while a protective shield is deployed around them, similar to Lifeline's old ability. Newcastle can also deploy a moving shield, and his Ultimate launches him into the air, creating a fortified barrier when he slams back into the ground. As Newcastle seems to be the most finished Legend in this leak, with a fully-rendered model and animations, fans believe that he'll be Season 13's new Legend. There's a few other defensive Legends in the leak, including Uplink, who seems a little overpowered. Uplink has an ability that deploys a satellite, which can heal and revive allies, and an Ultimate that stops allies from being downed for a limited time. The other defensive Legend is Catalyst, who could bring some Fortnite elements to the game with his building abilities. His Passive raises the HP of allies' cover, his Tactical ability shoots a ramp of hardened fluid in front of him, and his Ultimate launches a tall column of hardened fluid underneath him. Two recon Legends are included in the leak, Scryer and Vantage. Scryer's Passive allows the player to watch the opponent that killed them, while their Tactical ability is a trap that, when triggered, reveals the target's line of sight. Scryer's Ultimate blinds their opponents. Vantage, on the other hand, is a dedicated sniper, with a Passive that gives tactical information on a target when zoomed in on with a scope, such as their shield strength and level. Vantage's Tactical sends out a drone similar to Crypto's, and their Ultimate rewards them with a powerful limited-time weapon that provides damage boosts to their allies. Three new support Legends were leaked, including Conduit, who can recharge their shield passively and charge allies' with their Tactical. Caliber, another support Legend, can pick up a third weapon, make a turret out of their weapon, and drop infinite ammo for allies. Phantom can double jump, latch onto a wall for some time, and throw a Void grenade which traps opponents in the Void momentarily. The final leaked Legend, Jester, doesn't have an icon yet, but will apparently be able to convert any grenade into a proximity mine, along with calling in a drop pod of Spectres to guard a location. Jester's Ultimate will temporarily cloak a specific area. This massive Apex Legends leak also revealed a few new maps, and some incoming changes to pre-existing ones. The biggest reveal here is the new large-scale battle royale map titled "Divided Moon," which is set in space. The leak's gameplay of this map shows it to be pretty basic right now, with only barebones gray and orange structures being in place. Five new Arena maps are also included in the leak, apparently all directly based around Titanfall. The only complete map in the leak is one based on a Hammond Robotics factory, where most of Titanfall's Titan mechs come from. Storm Point is apparently going to receive a change-up at some point, adding some new buildings to the map, including a new point of interest underneath the Mill. Kings Canyon is also said to receive a few changes, with the biggest being that Skull Town is returning, and the top of the cage is being removed. A good handful of new weapons are also included in the leak, ranging the whole gamut of Apex Legends' arsenal. The most finished model, and the next likely to be added to the game, is an energy assault rifle called "Nemesis." A new bow named "Scorpion" is also shown, apparently being automatic-firing. A light-ammo LMG titled "Maelstrom," and an energy SMG called "Gemini" are also discussed. An akimbo set of energy pistols, called "Fanatic," are also included in the leak. A laser sight weapon attachment is also present in the leak, reducing hip-fire spread. According to the leak, a brand-new Capture the Flag-like game mode is heading to Apex Legends. Apex's Control mode and other Limited-Time Modes have had a pretty great track record, so adding a classic Capture the Flag mode seems like a solid move for Respawn. Apex Legends' Firing Range training mode is also apparently going to receive some updates and changes. Weapon challenges are supposedly being added, along with an infinite ammo feature and user-created challenges. Of course, there wouldn't be an Apex Legends leak be without a veritable feast of cosmetics. Both Crypto and Valkyrie are said receive an Heirloom soon, with Crypto's being a two-handed sword, and Valkyrie's being a spear. As has been the case for the last few Heirlooms, these two come with a unique set of attack animations. A handful of new emotes and weapons skins are also provided in this leak, along with the entirety of the next collection event's skins, called "Rebelfeed," which give each Legend some suitably rebellious outfits. Five new Legendary skins are coming for Ash, Loba, Valkyrie, Caustic, and Crypto. Bangalore is receiving a pretty expensive Presitge skin. Valkyrie and Wraith are getting new poses, and Ranked Holosprays are heading to Apex Legends. Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
