Epic Games announced that Fortnite and Xbox have raised over $100 million for ongoing humanitarian efforts amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, many of the gaming industry's biggest names have come out to offer assistance to humanitarian efforts in the region. From large companies like Riot Games donating over $5 million to organizations like Doctors Without Borders and the Red Cross to individual creators like Asmongold raising close to $400,000 for the Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere, the gaming community has shown its support in force for the ongoing plight of the Ukrainian people. Now, Microsoft and Fortnite recently concluded its Ukrainian charity drive, announcing the final total this morning.

Joining several other major gaming companies to make donations to the relief effort in Ukraine, Fortnite announced plans in mid-March to raise money for the humanitarian organizations dedicated to helping the war-torn region. Epic Games announced that all proceeds from Fortnite for a two-week period from March 20th to April 3rd would be donated to a collection of organizations including UNICEF and Direct Relief with more to be announced later. With the charity drive officially ending as of Sunday, Epic Games announced Monday morning that Fortnite has raised $144 million for humanitarian groups in Ukraine.

Fortnite announced the over $100 million total charity earnings on Monday through the game's official Twitter account, naming the organizations that would benefit from the massively popular battle royale's proceeds. Alongside the previously mentioned UNICEF and Direct Relief, the $144 million will also go to benefit the World Food Programme, the United Nations' Refugee Agency known as the UNHCR, and the World Central Kitchen. The aid will benefit humanitarian groups aiding the relief effort in Ukraine as the Russia-Ukraine conflict moves into its second month.

Fortnite's charity program came as the game was fresh off the debut of Chapter 3, Season 2 bringing not only a highly-anticipated new skin to the game but also a brand new game mode changing one of the game's main mechanics. Chapter 3's second season introduced the Avengers' Doctor Strange as the newest Marvel skin to be added to the battle royale, as well as the introduction of a "no building" mode removing Fortnite's core building mechanic, instead providing players with an extra shield to compensate.

The massive donation from Fortnite towards the Ukrainian relief efforts are just the most recent in a long string of charitable donations towards the region. Online marketplaces like Humble Bundle and Itch.io have raised tens of millions for humanitarian organizations through massive sales while other companies like The Pokemon Company and Bandai Namco have made more direct donations to the cause. Many gaming juggernauts have even gone as far as to cut off business with Russia amidst the conflict and similar charitable efforts and restrictions will surely continue as long as the fighting rages on.

Fortnite is available now for Android, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
