  • Fortnite Player Recreates Spider-Man Meme in New Impostors Mode

Fortnite's new Imposter Mode has allowed one YouTuber to recreate the "pointing Spider-Man" meme with players using a custom skin and pointing emote.

One creative Fortnite player has managed to recreate the iconic "pointing Spider-Man" meme in the new Imposter mode. Even though there is no officially licensed Spider-Man skin in the game, this user has managed to recreate the image by altering one of the unofficial superhero skins in the game and having the other players in the lobby use a pointing meme.

Although Fortnite has traditionally been a battle royale, the latest update has brought an Among Us-style game mode. The new Imposters Mode, which is a not-so-subtle reference to the Impostor role in Among Us, puts ten players into a room with the task of protecting The Bridge. This includes completing smaller tasks like repairing the iconic Fortnite Battle Bus, while the Impostors try to thwart the Agents' efforts. Just like in Among Us, there are two Impostors and eight Agents, and the agents must use meetings (here called "discussions") to vote and try to unmask the Impostors. The game ends when the Impostors are unmasked or the Impostors outnumber the Agents.

In the video, posted to Reddit by Lachlan, ten players enter the starting room just as they typically do. Each player is equipped with a red and blue version of what appears to be the Blastoff skin, a legendary skin that is a part of the Boundless collection. Equipped, this makes each player look like they are Spider-Man, so each player decides to flash the pointing emote, recreating the "pointing Spider-Man" meme, despite not having a true Spider-Man skin to use. Lachlan also posted the full video to his YouTube channel.

Even though there isn't an official Spider-Man skin, it's certainly not out of the question in the future. Marvel already has plenty of skins in Fortnite, which has crossed over with franchises that include DC, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Space Jam. The game has also featured plenty of crossover events as well as in-game concert events. The most recent concert, featuring Ariana Grande, was a massive event that saw players and the popstar herself jumping through multiple realities throughout. It's this level of silliness and fun that has enabled Fortnite players and content creators to have the sort of expression that Lachlan displayed.

While some players aren't quite as pleased with Fornite's decision to shift away from the battle royale formula that made the game popular, players are clearly enjoying the new content. The Imposter Mode is, at the very least, a nice change of pace for players who want to try something different. The less intense setting also allows for these goofy moments, like Lachlan's, to be possible without the threat of a rocket launcher or player sporting an odd emote ruining the whole scene.
