Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund recently celebrated his 31st birthday and he got quite the gift.
Tyler “Trainwreckstv” Niknam crashed the festivities with a donation and a gift for GeT_RiGhT during a birthday stream. The streamer purchased the generous gift through high-rolling skin trader zipeL. The gift was a holographic Team Dignitas sticker from the 2014 ESL One Katowice Major. The sticker is exceedingly rare and costs upwards of $16,000.
The gift from Trainwreckstv left GeT_RiGhT dumbfounded. Its overwhelming cost and scarcity had him stumbling to express his thanks.
“[I] have to keep it? Bro, I’m going to do it like this…I’ll accept it and it’s going to be in my inventory until you tell me whenever you want it back,” GeT_RiGhT said on the stream.
2014 ESL One Katowice Major stickers are absurdly expensive, running as high as $72,000 for teams such as Titan Gaming and iBUYPOWER. Their price stems from multiple factors, most notably their extreme rarity. Because Counter-Strike: Global Offensive wasn’t nearly as popular in 2014 as it is today, not many of these stickers were bought. Couple that with the fact that stickers are consumable and there are only a few dozen unused stickers of each team known to exist.
The event itself was also incredibly significant. It combined Counter-Strike’s most iconic event with official major status, and it was won in epic fashion by the hometown favorites Virtus.pro.
GeT_RiGhT actually competed in the 2014 ESL One Katowice Major with Ninjas in Pyjamas, losing in the grand finals. He is currently signed to Dignitas as a streamer, making this an on-brand gift for him regardless.
Is GeT_RiGhT still playing CSGO?
GeT_RiGhT is not playing CSGO professionally anymore, but he still streams the game on occasion.
He remains signed to Dignitas, the organization he ended his competitive career with. He joined the organization alongside his 2014 NiP teammates in January 2020 but was benched by the end of the year after a string of poor results. Since then he has primarily streamed, but has also popped up in a few tier-three tournaments and some showmatches.
