A brand new Nerf toy weapon, modeled after the SMG from Fortnite, is set to hit shelves in August, to the delight of fans and collectors.
A Nerf version of one of Fortnite's most iconic weapons is getting released soon. This video game-inspired toy from the iconic recreation company is far from the first of its kind, as Nerf has been known to collaborate with other popular gaming IPs like Minecraft when creating novel toys.
Fortnite isn't just one of the most popular IPs in video games - it's one of the most popular IPs anywhere. As such, the marketing and cross-promotional potential of the title, at this time, seems almost limitless. Typically, this cross-promotion comes in virtual form, with countless musicians, actors, and other celebrities having been added to the battle royale phenomenon over the past few years. Fortnite also features skins and gear based upon fictional characters from best-selling franchises like Avengers in the leadup to new entries in the series, which inevitably helps raise visibility. This appears to be a two-way street if Fortnite's iconic cameo in Avengers: Endgame is any indication. Most recently, the game teamed up with the NBA in the form of the All-Star Hub, which brought with it a host of new cosmetics and emotes.
Fortnite's collaborations aren't strictly limited to the digital realm, as evidenced by its upcoming collaboration with legendary toy company Nerf. Earlier today, GamesRadar revealed the all-new Nerf Fortnite Compact SMG Motorized Dart Blaster, which is modeled after the ultra-powerful SMG from the game. The electric toy weapon is powered by four AA batteries and can fire up to eight Nerf darts in rapid succession before it automatically loads the next clip. The toy is built with high-quality hard plastic and a rubberized grip. It will be released to the public on August 1 of this year.
The premium build and accurate design of this upcoming piece of Fortnite memorabilia make it a great gift for any collector or fan of the game. The SMG's vibrant red color also makes it stand out as far as novelty items go, even amongst Nerf's other brightly colored products. Even for people who aren't interested in Fortnite but love Nerf guns, this will likely be a popular commodity.
Of course, many of those familiar with Fortnite know about this toy's in-game counterpart all too well; when the SMG was introduced to Fortnite back in 2018, it had to be swiftly patched because it was too overpowered. This Nerf gun might not cause the same level of damage as the gun that inspired it, but its build quality will certainly allow enthusiasts to pretend that it does.
