Season 8 has been a transformative time for Fortnite , with lava leaking out from the ground and pirates invading the shores. One of the largest and strangest changes to the island has been the drainage of Loot Lake, a staple of the game since the battle royale mode was first implemented. In the middle of the muddy crater left behind is a metallic disk that's confused and intrigued players since it first appeared. Nobody was really sure what lay underneath the metal hatch, but a new data mine discovery might have leaked what is coming next.
Fortnite Loot Lake Event
Currently, the bunker is surrounded by a whole bunch of construction equipment circling the excavation site. There's no way to open the hatch in-game, so players have had no idea what's actually inside. FortTory, a Fortnite data miner, found the code for the hatch, showing that it will open up.
The hatch is made of individual sliding pieces able to swivel outwards, which means there has to be something inside. There's no reason for developers to make the textures move if they didn't plan to unleash something massive to Fortnite players. FortTory and the rest of the data mining community believe that a giant laser beam will shoot straight out of the Loot Lake bunker when it finally opens up.
"It really looks like some sort of a large plasma gun," FortTory tweeted while looking at the wired structure inside the bunker. Files also mention a "beam" that will be emitted when the event begins. Recently, a sound has started to come from underneath the bunker, emitting a pitch every five to 20 minutes.
Though nothing is confirmed, it does seem like a giant freaking laser beam will shoot out of the crater in Loot Lake. Where it's aiming is still a mystery; nowhere on the Fortnite island is safe.
