chief hopper fortnite skin
Fortnite x stranger things chief hopper and demogorgon skins leaked. Finn is one of the worst fortnite skins in the star wars. It centers around four boys who are friends with the mysterious girl known as eleven, who suddenly appears in town and has psychokinetic abilities. As I continue to chronicle the ever-expanding collection of Fortnite IPs as it marches toward making a Ready Player One-like Metaverse, things keep getting weirder and weirder.
We have our grand collection of superheroes and Star Wars characters, and have branched into actual celebrities like LeBron James and Arianna Grande. But sometimes, we get really random.
Fortnite has worked with Netflix before. They were actually among the first company to get on board with licensed skins, which is how we got a Hopper and Demogorgon skins from Stranger Things back in 2019. Now, we’re headed back to another Netflix IP, and one that if I gave you 30 guesses, you probably wouldn’t pick it.
According to the usual cadre of Fortnite leakers, we have what is most definitely a Tyler Rake skin coming to Fortnite.
Who?
That would be Tyler Rake, star of Extraction, the Netflix original movie played by Chris Hemsworth. Thor has already made his way into Fortnite, but not Hemsworth’s MCU likeness, so this would be a first.
So why is uh, Extraction’s Tyler Rake getting his own Fortnite skin? One that will probably look pretty close to a generic soldier?
Two reasons:
1) You may not realize this, but Extraction is far and away the biggest movie Netflix has ever made in terms of total viewership. By last count earlier in 2021, Extraction was reported to have had 99 million views on the service, more than Bird Box’s 89 million, The Old Guard’s 78 million or Army of the Dead’s 75 million. Or any other movie. So while you may not recognize the name Tyler Rake offhand, this was a massive hit for Netflix. It’s essentially the “Stranger Things” of its movie offerings.
2) This is what I like to call “Because Donald Mustard wanted it.” Donald Mustard, chief executive of all things Fortnite, actually talked about doing a Tyler Rake skin back in 2020, meaning he must have liked the movie:
Donald Mustard has many dreams of characters that he wants to see in Fortnite, and while some of those are well-known (he was recently celebrating Superman arriving in Fortnite), sometimes he just…does ones he wants to do. For instance, Mustard is friends with Brandon Sanderson, the author, and while this was probably not a highly fan-requested offering, he greenlit a character from Sanderson’s Mistborn books, Kelsier, into getting his own skin.
I’d say Tyler Rake makes more sense, given how recently popular that movie was, and at what scale, but still, he’s not exactly Jason Bourne or James Bond yet. What I am wondering, however, is if the Tyler Rake skin could be paired with an announcement or release of Extraction 2, which is 100% on the way. So I guess we’ll see. No date on this arrival yet, nor when we might actually see Hemsworth’s head attached to it.
